PARTNER, DIRECTOR OF ASSURANCE SERVICES AND NON-PROFIT PRACTICE

Growing up in Frankfort, Kentucky, Patricia Yeager was blessed with an instinctual gift. “My mother was an accomplished musician so our home was always full of music. By the age of two, I was playing the piano,” says Patricia. That enviable talent as a young woman led to 13 years of playing flute in a professional orchestra. “I never consciously made the connection between an innate musical ability with finding a career in accounting,” says Patricia, “so it never occurred to me then that one day I would serve as a partner in this profession.”

A summer job in accounting enticed Patricia to investigate business classes in college. “It was a different kind of passion, something that I was completely fascinated with. I doubled my degree to music and accounting and I’ve never regretted it. I’m absolutely committed to providing the best possible service for my clients, applying the discipline and dedication I learned with my music.”

Patricia, who as been in public accounting since 1979, is a Partner and also Director of both Assurance Services and our Non-Profit division. Her extensive experience includes providing auditing and accounting services to private middle market companies in a wide spectrum of industries including manufacturing, distribution and service. She also works directly with a wide variety of non-profit organizations and private schools.

Prior to joining the firm in 1989, Patricia had 10 years experience with the international firm Grant Thornton, within their Lexington, Kentucky and Atlanta, Georgia offices. “I was fortunate to enter this field at an exciting time when women were realizing anything was possible in a career choice if they were committed to achieving it. I’ve seen a lot of changes in the profession over the years and it’s been very positive.”

An avid runner, Patricia has enjoyed competing in half marathons. Married to her college sweetheart, Norm, they share an interest in many things. Says Patricia, “We’re accountants, musicians and classical music enthusiasts. We still follow and immensely enjoy University of Kentucky basketball too. “

EDUCATION

Patricia graduated from the University of Kentucky with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Music Performance.
