Analyzing numbers, making sense of mathematical equations and complex problem solving skills came naturally to Kevin Hedrick as a young man growing up in Chicago. “I always enjoyed math, puzzles and solving problems when I was a kid. As a student, I didn’t think specifically about using those skills to become an accountant, at least not until I took my first tax class in college. Truthfully, my real passion in high school was golf. I visualized myself on the pro tour!” According to Kevin, that fantasy may not have completely disappeared. His love of golf and warmer weather are the two things that prompted him to relocate from Illinois to Georgia thirteen years ago. It’s no secret around the WBL office that Kevin is serious about his golf. Thankfully for the firm, he’s even more committed about serving his clients.

Those early analytical thinking skills have definitely served Kevin well. Prior to joining the firm in 1997, Kevin was a Tax Manager at Selden, Fox and Associates, certified public accountants, in Oak Brook, Illinois. As a Tax Partner at WBL, Kevin specializes in tax planning and compliance services. He helps oversee an impressive international and domestic tax practice. Kevin’s expertise includes tax planning and tax return preparation for corporations, partnerships, trusts and individuals. He has advised numerous businesses on international tax issues, mergers and acquisitions and choice of entity considerations, and also represented a wide variety of businesses and individuals in IRS and state tax examinations.

With a healthy client base, Kevin keeps plenty busy. “I don’t make it to the golf course or to tournaments nearly as much as I would like, but I’m not complaining. I can’t imagine NOT being where I am today. Being an avid golfer is a great pastime but it’s also a perk in this business. I help my clients find solutions to financial issues but I also develop personal relationships. Golfing has proven to be a great way to facilitate communication with clients.”

Avid travelers, Kevin and his wife Maureen enjoy plane hopping to various international destinations. “We absolutely enjoy Europe, especially Paris and Monte Carlo. We’ve also explored through the Caribbean, even undertaking a submarine excursion off of Cozumel. Travelling has been a fabulous way for our children Nicole (6) and Michelle (4) to learn more about the world, even at their age. We’ve been fortunate they travel well!”

EDUCATION

Kevin graduated from Iowa State University with a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree in Accounting. He received a Master of Science Degree in Taxation from DePaul University in Chicago.
